Founded in 1954 OAKLAND BASS MASTERS OF MICHIGAN INC. is a non-profit organization created to promote conservation, sportsmanship and the safe use of our natural resources.
Club functions consist of 8 club tournaments, 1 classic
tournament, 1 M.B.I. (Michigan Bass Invitational), 1 Family picnic and
1 Banquet along with 3 open tournaments (optional).
This gives us the largest tournament schedule in the area. All events are picked by a majority vote of club members during one of our monthly meetings held on the second Sunday of each month.
We require a 60% attendance to tournaments and another 60% attendance to club meetings, This does not mean you can't miss a meeting all you have to do is call a officer of the club and notify them that you can't make it and the absents is excused. Age requirements are 18 or older or 16 or older with parents written permission.
The club has by-laws and tournament rules that must be followed at all times and will be provided the moment you join.
Club entry fees are $90.00 a year for a new member and $80.00 for a renewal and is due at the April meeting. As a new member you may pay a $10.00 deposit when joining between October and April at the end of this period your full payment is required.
We try to attend state senate and local government meetings to help them understand the fishermen's points of view and helps stop any misuse of our resources.
We attend all fishing and sporting shows in our area helping to keep even the amateur as well as professional fishermen enlightened to the needs and purposes required to maintain our resources.
The first rule in our club constitution reads: "To stimulate public awareness of bass fishing as a major sport. To offer our state conservation department our organized moral support and encouragement. To promote full adherence to all conservation codes and to demand adequate water standards and legal enforcement of existing regulatory standards.
To detect and report any polluter and call public attention to the crime. To improve our skill as bass anglers through a fellowship of friendly exchange of expert bass catching techniques and ideas, and to promote and encourage youth fishing and a love for this great recreation. To function as a dynamic and effective link with other sport fishing organizations embracing the principles and purposes of a moral and conservation minded organization." We live by this rule every day.
We feel this is a significant and substantial task and we hope you will join in our quest by completing a club membership application.
Membership per year is $90.00 for new members and $80.00 renewal for existing members. All meetings are on the second Sunday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Kodiak Creek Inn. With a 60% attendance requirement.
